(Cleveland, OH) — Cleveland City Dance holds its annual August Open House on Saturday, August 8 from 9:30 am – 2:00 pm. Due to COVID-19, the open house will look a little different this year. Guests will have the option to tour the studio virtually through a Facebook Live stream and/or make a reservation to receive a private virtual tour. Families may also choose to register for the open house by appointment and attend in-person. We will be scheduling tours to maintain social distance guidelines and protocols. All patrons entering the building are required to wear a mask and will be asked a health questionnaire prior to arrival. No more than one family will be allowed to tour the studio at a time.
Students will have the opportunity to take a FREE ballet class which may be used as a placement class for the upcoming fall season. Patrons can also purchase dancewear at the Footsteps Pop-Up shop! Get ready for a year of dance in one stop with professional shoe fittings, new dance attire options and finding the class that is the perfect fit for you and your child.
The Open House will conclude with a FREE virtual performance at 1:00 pm. The performance will be livestreamed through the Cleveland City Dance Facebook page.
Any families who attend the open house and register for classes on this day will receive $20 off the total tuition for the school year.

Cleveland City Dance
Statement on Coronavirus/COVID-19
March 13, 2020
As many of you may know, Governor DeWine announced on Thursday, March 12 that all K-12 schools will be closed for three weeks beginning Monday, March 16th After careful consideration and ensuring the safety of our students, families, faculty and staff, Cleveland City Dance has chosen to follow the Shaker School District closing schedule during this time. Beginning Sunday, March 15th, our school will be closed for regularly scheduled classes. In addition to our planned spring break (March 22-March 29) there will be no classes March 15-21 and March 30-April 5. This will also allow our cleaning company to have the time to use a stronger astringent to clean walls, carpet, floors, barres and all surfaces. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and we trust that you understand this difficult decision. We will re-evaluate the situation as it progresses and plan to follow the decision of our local school districts. We understand you may have several questions and hope that some of these can be answered below:
What about classes for this weekend? We are holding classes on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 as usual with a slight adjustment to the rehearsal schedule. Please use your discretion when choosing to come to class and do notify us if you do not plan to attend. We respect whatever decision you make.
How will this affect tuition charges? We will plan to pro-rate April tuition. April tuition will not be due until we return to class and are back in full swing. This change will be fluid as the situation develops so please be patient as we navigate these changes.
What will happen with the end-of-year performances? Currently, we are hoping to still offer these performances, however we will be delaying the start ticket sales. Online ticket sales for the May 9th (Cleveland City Dance) and May 15th (City Ballet of Cleveland) performances will begin in mid-April.
What if my child or I want to continue to dance during these few weeks? We are in the process of seeing the possibility of posting short videos on our website that would allow students to follow along with a brief warm-up or combination. This way, students will be able to maintain some of their technique during this time. However this is also a good time to take a few weeks off to let our muscles relax and heal in order to get stronger!
Regularly scheduled classes are canceled, but will you offer any other classes? We will consider offering a few morning classes for our intermediate/advanced dancers during the week of March 30, provided the threat of this virus has dissipated. Stay tuned for more details.
Will class cards be honored if they expire during this three week break? We will honor all class cards set to expire in March 2020 through April 2020. Please contact us if there are any extenuating circumstances beyond April.
Thank you for your support and your understanding. Stay safe and healthy, and enjoy your time together as a family.
Wishing you the Best,
Courtney, Heather, Alison, Allison, Ann, April, Bridget, Daniel, DeJa, Diana, Diane, Ethan, Emily, Jamie, Joann, Kathleen, Karin, Lisa G, Lisa W, Lori, Meghann, Mike, Naomi, Sabatino, Samantha, Sammy, and Terri
