Pointe and Variations

Pointe is the art of dancing in specific shoes within certain guidelines. Not all dancers begin pointe work at the same time. These are some of the considerations, not all, taken into determining if a dancer is ready for pointe.

  1. Students typically begin pointe at ages 11-14 after having been seriously training in ballet for several years three times a week minimally.
  2. In Level 3 Ballet.
  3. The ability to maintain turn-out throughout ballet technique class along with proper alignment of the spine and strength.
  4. Able to take 3 ballet classes per week including class prior to pointe to have the strength to maintain turnout.

Variations

The study of solo ballet work from classical repertoire; offered for students of the City Ballet of Cleveland and intensive summer students.
