“A Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker” Audition

TIME: 2:00 – 5:00 pm

WHO CAN AUDITION??

Students ages 8 and up (minimum with one-year dance experience) from area ALL dance schools. There are roles for students who dance on pointe including advanced dancers; please wear your pointe shoes to audition for these roles. Female dancers’ heights should be in the range of 4'0" to 5'10". Male dancers’ heights should be in the range of 4'2" to 6'0". Students must continue to take their dance classes during the semester.

Performances by the City Ballet of Cleveland, directed by Courtney Laves-Mearini former dancer with Cleveland Ballet, Atlanta Ballet and others. Ballet Master is Mark Otloski, former principal with the Cleveland Ballet.

Performances are scheduled for Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3 at Breen Performing Arts Center, with closed dress rehearsal Friday, December 1. Additional festival performances to be announced.

Rehearsals will take place at Cleveland City Dance from September through December on Saturdays and Sundays. The more advanced dances will also have additional weekly evening rehearsals.

Several options are available for the required fundraising activity.

The audition assesses the dancer’s ability so that he/she may be appropriately cast in a role. Participation is voluntary; no Cleveland City Dance student is required to perform. A parent or guardian must attend a mandatory meeting after all auditions.
